Painting time: 27hrs.

This was another commission model. Wandyr took 23 hours to paint, plus 4 hours for the base. The core of the base is a resin forest base from Micro Art Studios, although I stuck this on a larger 40mm base so that I would have room to add some of my own flocks, rocks, bushes etc., even tea leaves! Don't laugh, I read somewhere that they used them on the massive and beautiful miniatures they made for the Lord of the Rings movies, to simulate leaf litter in areas on the Rivendell miniature - if it's good enough for the Academy Awards, it's good enough for me haha! Ok you can laugh now.

The wild, dark forest atmosphere of the drunes calls for sombre and natural, but also slightly unhealthy and uncomfortable colour schemes; I tried to capture some of this atmosphere with the colour choices on the model, by sticking with earthy tones for most areas, but also introducing some purple nuances on the flesh areas.

I chose to paint the armour bronze because not only do the dark brown and green colour fit well with the other forest colours, but also because bronze is a less commonly painted metal and I thought it would give this version some more interest and uniqueness. Also, it gave me the chance to use some greenish oxidations, which I enjoy painting; the green also served to balance the other colours I used on the miniature, particularly the reddish and purplish sections, creating a more harmonious colour scheme.
